Champissage massage is also know as Indian head massage and is a trademarked term for an alternative medicine massage therapy. With champissage, the head, neck and face are massaged with the purpose of manipulating energy channels. The idea is to clear blockages in energy channels that cause a building up of negative energies which are claimed to cause ailments.
Champissage is used throughout Europe and Indian head massage was brought to western areas in the 1970s.
